Ms. Slater began her ICSAtlanta journey in 2019 after spending two years teaching in Tanzania. Before that, she worked as a Panda Guide, an Education Facilitator at Fernbank, and researched varanid lizard learning behavior at Georgia Tech. During her college years, she majored in Biology and minored in Russian, though her comprehension is terrible now due to years of not practicing. She encourages any students who speak Russian or Swahili to speak with her so she doesn’t forget the languages entirely. In her free time, Ms. Slater enjoys making pottery and exploring the world of mushroom identification. She currently lives in Brookhaven with her scientist husband and an undisclosed number of cats.
